Voorafgaand aan het eerste consult ontvangt u per e-mail een intakeformulier met vragen over de algemene gezondheid, woonsituatie en het gedrag van uw hond.

Dit formulier kan informatie bevatten over absolute en/of relatieve contra-indicaties, wat verwijst naar bepaalde aandoeningen waarbij het niet geschikt is om uw hond te masseren.

Indien uw hond onder behandeling is bij een dierenarts of specialist, wordt dit eerst besproken met de betreffende zorgverlener.

Bijna alle honden komen in aanmerking voor massage, maar het is cruciaal dat de medische achtergrondinformatie van uw hond volledig wordt verstrekt.

Tijdens het eerste consult bespreken we samen uw ingevulde intakeformulier en maak ik rustig kennis met uw hond. Vervolgens voeren we een gedetailleerde inspectie, observatie en palpatie (IOP) uit om te zorgen voor een op maat gemaakte en veilige massagebehandeling.

Afhankelijk van uw behoeften en de aard van de hulpvraag kunnen vervolgsessies voor massages worden gepland.

Massages die gericht zijn op lichamelijk herstel of gedragsverbetering vereisen mogelijk meerdere sessies voor optimaal resultaat. Voor ontspanningsmassages kan één sessie voldoende zijn, maar u bent altijd welkom om meerdere sessies in te plannen indien gewenst.

In een staande positie kan ik beoordelen hoe een hond zijn lichaam draagt. Ik inspecteer de zij-, voor- en achterkant van het lichaam op mogelijke onregelmatigheden.

Tijdens deze observatie let ik op de lichaamsbouw en houding van de hond. Enkele belangrijke punten waarop ik focus zijn:

• Verdeling van het gewicht tussen de voor- en achterhand
• Soepele overgangen in de ruglijn
• Spierontwikkeling rond de schouders en het bekken
• Positie van de staart
• Spanning in de voeten
• Balans en gewichtsverdeling van links naar rechts
• Lijn van de gewrichten in de voor- en achterpoten

Ik wil de hond graag in beweging zien om eventuele onregelmatigheden in het gangwerk en de lichaamsbewegingen te kunnen observeren. Er zijn verschillende soorten gangwerk, zoals stap, draf en galop. Het tempo van het gangwerk pas ik aan op wat uw hond aankan, zodat ik zowel u als uw hond niet overbelast.

Gangwerk verwijst naar de bewegingspatronen van honden bij verschillende snelheden.

Tijdens het palperen voel ik het lichaam op specifieke punten, terwijl ik goed let op de signalen van de hond om een beter inzicht te krijgen in zijn behoeften.

Bij het palperen let ik onder andere op temperatuurverschillen, spanning in het onderhuidse bindweefsel, de conditie van de vacht, spierspanning en gevoelige plekken.

Bij elke massagesessie voer ik een inspectie, observatie en palpatie (IOP) uit. In vervolgsessies zal de palpatie echter minder uitgebreid zijn.

Na de IOP kan ik doorgaand met de massagebehandeling, tenzij er onregelmatigheden worden geconstateerd die mogelijk een bezoek aan de dierenarts of een andere medische specialist vereisen voordat de massagebehandeling kan worden voortgezet.

Op basis van de informatie die ik verzamel tijdens de inspectie, observatie, palpatie en het consult, kan ik een op maat gemaakte massagebehandeling voor uw hond samenstellen. 

Ondersteunende oefeningen zijn zeer effectief voor honden die mentaal of fysiek belast zijn. Deze oefeningen kunnen vóór, tijdens of na de behandeling worden toegepast.

Ze bieden ook een kans voor mij om de hond beter te leren kennen en samen te werken aan het opbouwen van vertrouwen en zelfvertrouwen. Dit stimuleert positieve emoties en draagt bij aan een emotionele balans.

Na de behandeling ontvangt u een beknopt verslag van de sessie per e-mail. Dit verslag biedt een overzicht van wat er is besproken tijdens het consult, de inspectie, observatie, palpatie, de massagebehandeling en eventueel advies over technieken.

Let op: dit verslag is niet van toepassing op ontspanningsmassages.

Before the first consultation, you will receive an intake form via email, asking about your dog's general health, living situation, and behavior.

The form may include information about absolute and/or relative contraindications, which refer to specific conditions where massaging your dog may not be suitable.

If your dog is under the care of a veterinarian or specialist, this will be discussed with the relevant healthcare provider first.

Almost all dogs are eligible for massage, but it is essential that all medical background information about your dog is provided.

During the first consultation, we will go over the intake form together, and I will take the time to get to know your dog. We will then conduct a detailed inspection, observation, and palpation (IOP) to ensure a customized and safe massage treatment.

Depending on your needs and the nature of the request, follow-up massage sessions can be scheduled.

Massages focused on physical recovery or behavioral improvement may require several sessions for optimal results. For relaxation massages, one session may be sufficient, but you are always welcome to schedule multiple sessions if desired.

In a standing position, I can assess how a dog carries its body. I inspect the side, front, and back of the body for any potential irregularities.

During this observation, I focus on the dog's body structure and posture. Here are some key points I pay attention to:

• Weight distribution between the front and hindquarters
• Smooth transitions in the spine
• Muscle development around the shoulders and pelvis
• Tail position
• Tension in the paws
• Balance and weight distribution from left to right
• Alignment of the joints in the front and rear legs

I would like to see the dog in motion to observe any irregularities in its gait and body movements. There are different types of gait, such as walk, trot, and canter. I adjust the pace of the gait to what your dog is capable of to ensure neither you nor your dog are overexerted.

Gait refers to the movement patterns of dogs at different speeds.

During palpation, I feel specific points on the body while closely observing the dog's signals to gain better insight into its needs.

In palpation, I pay attention to factors such as temperature differences, tension in the subcutaneous connective tissue, coat condition, muscle tension, and sensitive areas.

For each massage session, I perform an inspection, observation, and palpation (IOP). In follow-up sessions, however, the palpation will be less extensive.

After the IOP, I can proceed with the massage treatment, unless any irregularities are found that may require a visit to the veterinarian or another medical specialist before continuing the massage. 

Based on the information I gather from the inspection, observation, palpation, and consultation, I can then create a customized massage treatment for your dog.

Supportive exercises are highly effective for dogs that are mentally or physically stressed. These exercises can be applied before, during, or after the treatment.

They also provide an opportunity for me to get to know the dog better and work on building trust and self-confidence. This encourages positive emotions and contributes to emotional balance.

After the treatment, you will receive a brief summary of the session via email. This summary provides an overview of what was discussed during the consultation, the inspection, observation, palpation, the massage treatment, and any advice on techniques.

Please note: this summary does not apply to relaxation massages.
